When someone has done a routine exercise in a long period of time, but feel that the result progress is very slow, later that man will spend more time in the gym with the assumption that if he spends more time in the gym, he can get the results he wants faster. Over-exercising with a tight low-calorie diet can cause a condition called over training.The classic signs of over training happen when somebody exercise all the time in the gym, but his exercising performance do not get better, it even gets worse. The performance deterioration is usually accompanied by mood changes with other biochemical and physiology functional symptoms in the body, like joint and muscle pains, tiredness and also lack of appetite. Over training condition can be scientifically explained that it is a condition when the body lack the rest it need to recover after an exercise program. Besides, over training can cause a psychological syndrom, when they who over trained on weight-lifting will have the tendency to worry and panic more, while they who over trained for aerobic exercises can go down with a depression. If over training leads to deterioration of exercises performance in the long term, there is another term called “Overreaching” which means short term or temporary performance deterioration. Overreaching often happens in athletes who need to do routine exercises, the condition caused by excessive exercise during one session. As an example, body building athletes will have an overreaching condition after he lift a too heavy weight or do more sets with more repetitions. Overreaching will be temporary, but if you experience this repetitively, it will become an over training. The real exercise will always form some kind of “injury” which is called micro trauma adaptive. The reason why it is called adaptive is this injury will cause and adaptation on bones, muscles and other body tissues so that muscles will get bigger and bones getting stronger accordingly with exercises you do. Adaptive micro trauma injuries will produce a kind of hormones called cytokines, this hormone will give you an early warning if you enter the over training condition. Cytokines will affect the receptors in the brain which will affect your mood. There are scientific proofs that connect cytokines with depression. They who have higher cytokines level will be more prone to be sadder and moodier, and the higher cytokines level, the worse the effect will be. The change in moof is the earliest symptoms of over training. So, before it directs to lower exercise performance, put attention on your mood lately. It is true that over training is not the only reasons for your mood swings, but if you feel that you are not enthusiastic, worried or pressured without any visible reason, try to remember your exercise pattern lately. |
